Malaysia Repurposes RM5 Billion Loan for Northern Perak Water Supply Infrastructure

On 30 October, the Malaysian Government signed a RM5 billion loan-repurposing agreement involving Suria Strategic Energy Resources and the Export-Import Bank of China to finance the Northern Perak Water Supply Scheme. The project includes water-transfer infrastructure and treatment plants, with targeted supply capacity of 700 million litres per day for northern Perak and 300 million litres per day for Penang, alongside 500 million litres per day of raw water for agricultural irrigation. The RM5 billion represents the repurposed financing agreement, not completed construction expenditure. Utilities, engineering firms and project developers can explore opportunities in infrastructure monitoring, water-demand forecasting and asset-performance analytics. HPC can support data-intensive modelling and project-planning systems; contact HPC for a quotation based on your confirmed project scope.
